APD is a small start up enterprise which is involved in both marketing and production of certain diagnostic tests. APD has manpower and facilities to perform biomarker validation, production of certain diagnostic tools and establishment of certain diagnostic tests (test systems including equipment and test kits). The laboratory has four different sections: (1) research and development of assays and test systems involved mainly in research and development activities on molecular and advanced biotechnology for test development, (2) cell culture and monoclonal antibody laboratory involved partly in research and development for new antibodies production and partly involved in production of certain antibodies, (3) production laboratory which has different sections on the production of the different part of the test system and (4) quality control laboratory which takes care of the quality of the materials produced. The laboratories involved practiced the performances according to good laboratory practice (GLP) with strict quality control through the TUV (Technischer Überwachungs Verein, Technical Inspection Association in English) organisation and it obtained ISO 9001 2008 and 13485 certifications. This SME is one of the key partners, the sub-coordinating centre for tryptophan research group in the FP7 collaborative project MOODINFLAME.
