Institute presentation
The Instituto Superiore di Sanità, the highest Italian institution devoted to Public Health, will provide infrastructural and administrative support. ISS-GL (Behavioural Neuroscience, Dept. Cell Biology and Neuroscience) will have full access to all the required facilities for animal and testing rooms for all the experimental procedures. Core Equipment: ad hoc systems for the semi automated analysis of behaviour; computer-controlled operant cages for impulsivity; Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy (4.7 Tesla) for small rodents; the main biomedical library in the country. The team-specific expertise in the investigation of brain/behaviour regulations in altricial rodents – throughout ontogeny – in response to drug challenges constitutes a distinctiveness of the Consortium. Additionally, the team has substantial expertise in the evaluation of the effects of autoantibodies targeting brain regions and behavioural abnormalities. ISS-GL will thus allow the Consortium testing the neuro-behavioural phenotype in mouse models of TS.
