The Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) is the leading technical and scientific public body of the Italian National Health Service. Its activities include research, control, training and consultation in the interest of public health protection.
The Unit of Respiratory and Systemic Bacterial Infections (URSBI) is a leading national and international centre on active research and surveillance programmes and it has a long standing expertise in the identification, typing, antibiotic susceptibility, virulence aspects of gram positive bacteria responsible for respiratory and systemic infections, including beta haemolytic streptococci.
